Signs the Honeymoon is Over

Yes we have returned from the honeymoon, relatively unscathed.... We stayed up in Eureka Springs for three nights and two days. More pictures will follow in the coming days. (Gotta give you something to look forward to)
Here's a fun (but true) list of signs the honeymoon is over and reality has set in:
--You and your spouse try out the home tub after a week of Jacuzzi tubs and find that both of you do not fit (Drain the water quickly!)
---You and your spouse have find interesting postions in bed (no THAT kind) so you both fit in your full--not king--size bed
---You arrive at the breakfast table to find that YOU have to fix your own breakfast (after you unpack your dishes of course).
---You find an audience in your bedroom (your pet)
---You put out the sign for the maid to "Please Clean our Room" and find no response
---You have to find interesting ways to eat cake with every meal and even try to pawn it off on your church to no avail....
---Your phone rings (change your ring tone Trevor!)
And the worst sign of all: You have to go back to work!!!!!

Well to my adoring audience I will give a quick post. I am busy working and planning. I finally finished invitations, praise the Lord!! I had a fun shower last weekend with the girls. I have some creative friends!!Just waiting on Trevor's ring to arrive and for honeymoon funds to miraculously show up! Well hope your week is going well. Well I will try to do my story justice....As you all know yesterday was my birthday, my 25th in fact. Trevor took me to Bricktown for some good food at Bourbon Street Cafe and then he started to drive down 240. I started to wonder where in the world he was taking me until I saw the sign for Chickasha. Knowing how I love lights, he had decided to take me to Chickasha to see the Festival of the Lights. I didn't bring my camera which is sad...but I have the memories. Anyway there we went on a carriage ride throught the park. Trevor was thinking of proposing to me on the bridge but he saw the cracks in the bridge and decided against. It was actually funny later because at the time I had asked him what he was doing and he said he was " looking at the lights on the water."Yeah right. Anyway he ended up taking me to the huge tree of lights. He went down to one knee and asked me if I loved him and well I think you can figure out the rest. He suprised me so much and I feel so relieved. It' s good to know we are definitely going to get married. Check out Trevor's take on the night.

Well I did end up needing antibiotics. Oh fun. But wasn't too bad. I went to two parties on Saturday. Julie and Chris' and 7 and a suprise wedding shower for Megan at 8. I also went to see lights in Midwest City and that was pretty fun. I hope to see more though......

Sick day....again

Well sick at home.... Here's a little rant: why is it that I get sick from someone who won't stay home from work/public but I get chastised from work because I call in sick for being sick? (Maybe that makes sense) I'm pretty sure this is sinusitis, which nurses SHOULD know is very contagious. PLEASE have the common sense to stay home when you are sick. I am home today resting/lavaging my nasal cavities (sounds like fun doesn't it kiddies)/pushing fluids, hoping this won't require antibiotics. Thanks come again.
On a more pleasant side note: I have finished my book (finally) and will start another, and will watch a couple of movies.

Back from my trip to Missouri and back hard at work. I had tons of fun playing with the nieces and Dylan. Emily Grace is so cute. The wedding was stressful---for Ty and Jess if you read this, which I doubt you do... well it wasn't your fault. I just hope my wedding is little lower key. Had fun making pumpkins with the rugrats. Yoda, or Oooda green according to Dylan, on one side and the profile of Belle on the other. I met some of the more dignified members of the Taylor clan, who were pretty cool. I just hope I didnt offend Trevor's aunt by my lack of telephone manners. And not to say they are not dignified but twice as fun but I also was finally able to meet Trevor's aunt Denise and uncle Kevin. All and all I had a great weekend off. Trevor helped most of the time on Ty and Jess's house and did a good job. That's about it. I can't wait for the next trip.

It's been a good week here in Shawnee, well what little time I was here. Still not too happy about some of the aspects of my little home but I need to be more positive:) Besides when I leave today I am gonna take Jack to Trevor's and spray the heck out everywhere in here for bugs(:
I get really bored on my days off because Trevor is never off (he's either sleeping, playing or working). I worked three days this week and I really like my job. I pulled three sheaths this week. ( If you dont know what that is, you might not want to know. Let's just say if they are not done properly, the patient bleeds to death) I miss the people I worked with at St Luke's but not some of the hassles. I feel like I'm busy at Baptist but not so busy I can't get to know my patients and co-workers. I also feel like the system is set up to be more user-friendly. Not to knock St Luke's-- it was definitely the experience. I just feel like Baptist is more fun and a better "fit." Enough of my ramblings. I will get the "summer fest" picture tour of my summer up probably when I get my digital camera back. I am glad that Trevor has retrieved most of my pictures from my dead computer ( my computer will be reborn as soon as I get a new hard drive Trevor says). I also have to give a shout out to Mark for all the help and company last weekend.
Here's my top ten looking at going into next week: (not in any particular order)

Getting to work at a place where I feel like a good nurse ( most of the time).
Mark coming to visit last weekend.
Getting to spend time with Julie and Chris.
Hopefully getting new scrubs this week, good-bye to teal scrubs every day ( and good riddance)
Finished my audiobook Second Touch, a fictional story about lepers during the days of Jesus. It brings up an interesting allegory of how sin compares to leprosy. (not in the way you think either)
Driving to Tulsa this weekend to see Jennifer and Tacee.
Going mall shopping.
Going to Bath and Body Works.
Watching Trevor act like he is drunk from sleep deprivation ( he really should be involved in a study or something on that topic) and then sleep on my floor.
Renting movies on my MVP pass.

* I know I am so boring but this list was fun. If you live in Shawnee, or just think I should get a life, come by, visit, give me ideas. Well as long as it is not Star Wars collecting or OU football. No thanks.

Well I am mostly settled, can't wait to be completely settled so I can relax when I get home. Missing some door knobs, etc still. If I haven't talked to you in a while, I am sorry, I really have been so busy. I have been going to orientation and I will start working on the floor next week. God has provided so well for the months surrounding this move.I think I will enjoy my job. I love going to Calvary(My new church family), also but I am still finding my niche.
Interesting thing, this week Trev and I are on almost exclusively vegan diet. So far we feel good but a little, um gastric disturbance (: I feel hungry all the time so I really have to keep eating snacks ( we said few breads this week too). I am planning to get all my pics ready so I do a summer pic fest all at once. I know you can't wait....

Ok I thought I would take the opportunity to post while I have the time and internet for now. Trevor and I are doing good, had some things to work through. For anyone doing long distance, I feel for you. Oh and but my time 8 hours apart is about to be over. I said good bye to friends and church and it was sad but I have a feeling we will be staying in touch(or I hope) and Dave lives here so we should be making regular trips to see him. God has richly blessed my life by the people I gotten to know in the past year. If you dont hear from me in the next few weeks, it isnt because I dont care, I am just busy. This weekend I able to be part of a wedding of two of my good friends, Todd and Rachel. It was a very pretty wedding. I will post pics in a few weeks when I have my camera back.
Trevor came down for the wedding and it was so good to see him. He finally met Claudette this weekend. We also went to Six Flags yesterday and had a blast. We rode the major rides two or three times. It was hard to come back and now I have pack. Have you ever noticed how when you pack a couple of boxes, you realize how much more you have to go? I only work 7 more nights, though and I have so much to do before Saturday the 9th.

Today I went with Joy and Jessica to the Herman Park, where we visited the mini waterpark. I would have pics but am glad I left my camera at home since it poured later on this afternoon. On our way to Casa Ole we hit a huge storm, complete with hail, winds, and blinding rain. In the news article highlighted, we were about 5 minutes down the road from Bellaire. Been a good day indeed.

Yes I lost my temper at work Sunday morning. Not really upset at what I said (probably needed to be said) but the circumstances and atttitude I said them under. I need to stay in the presence of Jesus so outbursts like this dont happen.
So in repentence I helped with VBS tonight. Not really, I was gonna do that anyway. I enjoyed the 1st and 2nd graders. I went to lunch again with a most trusted friend, thanks Gail. Even though I am ready to move on (mainly because of work) to Oklahoma. I will miss everyone but I need an extended break from work (which this week is sort of).
And most of all I finally was able to talk to the person I enjoy the best, Trevor Taylor. I had missed getting to have a conversation with that man. I miss him too so much.

Here is my picture diary of Student Life Camp at Stephen F Austin in Nacogdoches, Tx. I was a sponsor, along with the youth minister, Ralph Todd for 14 students, junior high and high school. I learned and laughed so much this week. I was reminded of what worship is (Romans 12:1-2). No, its not just about the songs, its about life. It was a packed week but we all had a blast, learning about unfailing love through lessons on Hosea, Jeremiah, and Joseph. We learned about the lives of Martin Luther, Lottie Moon, Oswald Chambers. What an amazing week! Just ask any of the campers who went to camp. Just don't ask Ralph about his angels' wings! ( A funny story about a man in the wrong conversion at the wrong time).

You see there is an ongoing joke about the other and older meaning of fagot. A fagot is a "bundle of twigs or sticks"according to the dictionary( not what you are thinking it means). In one of the chapel sermons at OBU I made some notes inmy Bible for Phillipians 1:18-30. I wrote, "Life is difficult...so what? Jesus is Lord...I will rejoice!" Rejoicing is not what comes to mind in the midst of trouble but we are reminded by James to, " ...Consider it pure joy when we face trials of many kinds." The last year of my life has had many trials and I am still being taught. I do not always welcome trials...in fact I often try to avoid them.
Just as I avoid trials, painful things, so do many of my patients. We, as healthcare professionals are constantly reminding patients to cough, deep breathe, turn, and get up and walk around after their surgeries. We know if they dont, they will not heal. For example, I had a patient who was capable of feeding himself, walking, and doing other tasks but he refused to do them. I reminded him that I wanted to take care of him but if I did everything for him he would be no better off because he would get infections from not coughing and weak from not using his hands. He still avoided these things because they were painful...and out of fear. But I knew if he avoided them he would be worse than before healthcare intervention.
Just as coughing and walking can be painful after surgery, so can many things in my life. But if I do not "exercise" my faith I will be no better off than that patient in bed unable to do simple tasks for himself. God allows these things in my life to make me stronger and without them I will become helpless against the world and the many temptations that wait for me daily.
Most importantly, I have to remember I am not alone. Just as this man had people willing to help....just not to do everything for him. Jesus will be with me, but I have to take the first step toward him on my own. It is my choice to follow.

I miss the days where I was in nursing school and we could have post conference to rehash the events of the day. I get to do that some with the nurses on the floor, but not the same. Yes, I have been careful, but I need to be more careful and aware.

Well trying to send the pic, but guess what? I got hit today on my way to church. Of course they didnt stop (and I actually tried to follow him for a little bit). He evaded me and now I get to deal with the damages he inflicted to the front end of my car. Really not too bad but just frustrating that some people will not take responsibility for their actions and others, who are innocent bystanders have to pay for it.

Well I arrived back home safely in Houston early Friday morning. I had some good interviews, and some not so good ones that helped me decide where I DONT want to work. I am excited about the prospect of one which my friend Julie is helping me with.
Craziness here. I have two nights of work down and five more to go and then I go to Student Life Conference with the youth. Fun stuff. I guess small group is over but I will still try to do stuff on Thursdays with the group.
Work has been interesting. I found out that last night's code on our floor ( yes we had another one) was the fourth in the last week, counting last Saturday morning's. I guess we are getting good at coding or something on 10 Tower.

I can only sit back in amazement right now. I am past exhaustion but I don't think I can sleep now. I had an awful night last night at work, and I only worked 8 hours! I think God knows I could only take 8 tonight. This morning we coded one of my patients I took care of last night. Well I didnt really do anything. I ran to retrieve the crash cart, that's about it. I just couldnt believe it and my brain was fried after that night so I just let the other nurses take over. Which was ok. Well now I will try to relax and try not to cry since I have to go back tonight.

I had a doctor's appointment, ran errands, ate lunch with a friend, called some friends on the phone, and cleaned my humble abode. Check out Trev and I 's new toys. I think they are pretty cool. I am still on my Dune kick. I read Dune, Dune Messiah, and am working on Children of Dune. I watched the newest Dune miniseries, Children of Dune and tonight I will watch the old school Dune, which I have heard from a reliable source is very good.

In honor of Cinco de Mayo, the small group and I celebrated at Taco Cabana. Good times. Same old, same old besides that. Still trying to decide which job I want to take. Oh and my brother graduates next week from mechanic school. And then its decision time! Thanks to all the friends and family who have prayed for me, listened to me, and dealt with me over the last few weeks. I love you all.

Well I am back in H-town, rather reluctantly. I only feel asleep a dozen times or so this time on the drive. Yeah I only have myself to blame since I stayed in Shawnee too long. Lately I have been considering what a mess I got myself into with school. I worked very hard in school and now I have a great nursing degree but a considerable amount of debt with it. So looks like I am gonna be working hard for the next few years to pay them back.
On better things, I get almost two weeks off after tomorrow and I get to see Trevor. I will be interviewing in OK for jobs so be in prayer for me. It's a tough decision, stay here and be stressed or move closer to Trevor and take a pay cut. I gotta cut back on the spending yes. I am fighting the could've's, since I have could have done a few things to lessen the load in school, but for many reasons did not. Anyway I will stop because I am sure I am sure I am depressing everyone since I am depressing myself.

Oh so many thoughts lately, and yes I did have fun over Easter. See my pics?
In my day to day life, I have been accused of thinking too hard. Have I? Some hard things have happened in my home town last week. Reminds me of how there are no accidents. Each day is not a chance encounter with eternity but a well orchestrated one. We can't be looking to blame or say "what we would do" in that circumstance. Truth is none of us can truly know until the rubber hits the road.
Its no mistake I am in Houston now, even though its tough. Its no mistake I have challenging patients---I have learned so much and will be a better nurse because of it. Its no mistake I am a small group leader of an amazing group of girls. I am learning so much there too. Its no accident I am dating a stellar and patient man. No, God works all things out for the good of those who love him and are called according to his purpose (Romans 8:28). I gotta know this on hard days too like Tuesday when I was so anxious to go into work I crawled back into bed. I do that sometimes when I am too overwhelmed, I crawl into bed and imagine God's arms around me loving me and telling me I am his own. I just gotta rest in him.

Another week has gone past. I am a little better than last post since I had some friends/family visit. Work is still tough but I finding ways to cope...somehow. I had to face some mistakes at work this morning but it looks that the worst that can happen is I get a "warning."
But now I get to go home for the weekend and it will be so nice. I am ready to celebrate the resurrection of our Lord with friends and family. I am also ready for Lent to be over so I can drink a nice tall Dr Pepper. Bring on the sugar-- but please don't bring back the weight(:

I am getting so tired of being by myself, I can't stand it. Don't get me wrong, I like being alone as much as the next person but day after day, week after week, my only interactions are at work and brief times of church and small group. I am grateful for what I have. However, I know that meaningful relationships are important. I love my phone conversations but I miss having weekly television sessions, shopping, and even, yes, doing homework with friends. I have to find a balance between being by myself and others or I will not be too sane. And I am taking others down with me. The pattern goes, work stresses me out, sleep, work stresses me out, sleep, find something to do by myself, then the pattern repeats. I am not just whining, I am asking, begging for advice here. Dear reader if you have time, leave advice.
Psalm 42: 11 "Why are you downcast, O my soul, why so disturbed within me? Put your hope in God, for I will yet praise him, my Saviour and my God."

I am still thinking on some things in my life and what I could do better. This article gets me thinking about what God is pruning in my life.
I don't really want to stay where I am forever. Most people who know me well know this is one of my recent consuming struggles. I have wanted a family of my own for the longest time and don't want to live out these months here living alone. But thinking back, it was in the loneliest times I grew the most, was the most content.
It's tough here, every day I am learning more in my chosen profession. The lessons don't come easily though. Most of them come through potentially dangerous mistakes. Once I do make a mistake, I never forget though.
I have had a wrong prospective at work though. I know I have the most precious gift, the Spirit of life and hope living in me, but I often get bogged down thinking I am a stumbling block because I am a novice. I have to depend on others for help, I ask many questions, I feel clumsy and unconfident in my ability. These thoughts have contributed to a lie that I keep telling myself. I keep thinking that I am a simply a burden, a liability, to my coworkers. I know I make a difference in my patients' lives but I need to make an impact on my coworkers' as well. I catch myself gettting angry at coworkers and complaining but not trying to see things from their point of view. I say things out of frustration--like last night-- that should not be said in the first place and could be damaging to the person if it is relayed to them. I must not only be careful, I must be prayerful that I can be a light to those I work with week after week. One of my coworkers pointed out that the person in question is probably a person who is hurting inside because of how she treats others (something along those lines). I said we can tell that because she seems to get her joy from causing others' pain. I think sadly about what I said and that I need to be aware of the possible reasons for others' actions. I don't know if any of my coworkers are believers. A major way I can help my coworkers is to try my best to be positive and let the things I say be positive. Venting is ok but when conversations center on negativity it accomplishes nothing. Lord, forgive me for my sinful and hurtful words. Show me how to see others as you do.
